description
A total of 400 Dave Grohl DG-335s were made in a striking Gold Metallic finish and features Dave Grohl's signature
on back of headstock. A brilliant songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Dave Grohl is one of the most dynamic and
powerful performers in recent memory. Channeling the intensity of his legendary drumming into his guitar playing,
Grohl rose from the ashes of Nirvana and has spent more than 15 years as the frontman and guitarist for the Foo
Fighters.
True to Grohl’s specifications, the DG-335 has the classic Firebird-style headstock with six-on-a-side tuners set into
an ES-335 style semi-hollow body. The guitar has diamond f-holes, and the inlays on the rosewood fretboard are
acrylic split diamond, a unique feature that remains from the original Trini Lopez. At Grohl’s request, the DG-335 is
powered by Burstbucker 2 and 3 humbucker pickups. Within the original Patent Applied For humbucking spec,
these pickups are known for their clean and articulate distortion and singing vintage tone.
From quiet intros and verses to full-on raging choruses, this guitar delivers whatever sound is necessary. A longtime
Gibson enthusiast, Grohl worked closely with the luthiers of Gibson Memphis to create the DG-335. The
quintessential guitar for today’s player, the DG-335 combines the style and versatility of the Trini Lopez (built by
Gibson from 1964 to 1971) with a pair of gritty, vintage-voiced Burstbuckers in Pelham Blue and Gold Metallic
finishes. The original Trini Lopez model was a striking take on Gibson’s ES-335 semi-hollow body guitar, and today’s
DG-335 is a further fine-tuning of the legendary ES-335.
Gibson Memphis is proud to honor Dave Grohl with the new DG-335, which comes in a form-fit hardshell case and
Certificate of Authenticity.
