description

Huge tone resonates from deep within its bound single-cutaway hollow body archtop, which features parallel tone bar bracing with sound post and bound F-holes. The one-piece maple neck has a white graphite nut and bound rosewood fingerboard with acrylic block inlays. Other features include dual Black Top Filter’Tron™ humbucking pickups with gold-plated bezels, three-position pickup switch, gold-plated hardware, bound headstock with pearloid Gretsch inlay and Armstrong’s signature on the truss rod cover, Grover® tuners, Adjusto-Matic™ bridge and harp tailpiece.

In the hands of players as diverse as Brian Seltzer, George Harrison, Malcolm Young, Pete Townshend and John Squire, Filter’Tron Pickups have shown they can handle everything from 1950s rockabilly to hard rock and indie jangle. Clean, the Filter’Tron has a beautiful jazz sound without the inherent muddiness that a PAF sometimes exhibits. When slightly overdriven, it is the sound of rockabilly. These pickups have a treble snarl that is just on the pleasant end of strident without becoming too harsh. These factors combine to make the Filter’Tron a great bridge between the Fender and Gibson sound, carving out its own signature sonic space. Filter’Trons typically have a DCR of 3k-5k, which seems very low. However, due to the size of the magnet and the tall and narrow configuration of the coils, Filter’Trons are considered to be on the louder side of the pickup range. This lower output allows the pickups to keep a single-coil-esque clarity, while the construction allows for classic humbucker warmth.

The 2015 Gretsch G5191BK Tim Armstrong Signature Archtop guitar does not come with a case/gigbag by default, so Felicity’s Guitars provide a high-quality custom fit ‘RKS’ hardshell case with plush white interior, included in price. This guitar is brand new condition as when it left the factory, and you can be the first person to play it!
